A man pursued by police in a car chase on Tuesday gave the “driving range” a whole new meaning.
Police in New York attempted to pull over a vehicle doing 93 mph on the interstate. The driver ignored the sirens and lights, leading police on a pursuit through local roads. After officers set up a spike-strip, the driver was forced off-road, and onto the greens of Golden Oak Golf Course.
Police identified the driver as the 79-year-old Freddie P. Maliwacki Sr., who drove around on the course until his car got stuck in the rough. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. The chase damaged six of the course’s greens.
A statement by the course on Facebook said “We are resilient! We can be knocked down, but we get up stronger every time!”
