5 Reasons to Keep Golfing This Winter

December 15, 2017 by Davis Miller Leave a Comment

Fires are lit, coats and gloves are on, and your clubs are snugly stored in the garage for safe keeping for the next three months. Wait? What? Who told you that you had to press pause on working your handicap down? If anything, a long winter break is going to drive your score up. You need to toss your bag back into the trunk and get out and swing.

Cold wintry days don’t make for ideal playing weather, but we’ve got five reasons why you should keep golfing this winter as the thermometer drops.

How to Save on Golf Gifts this Christmas

December 1, 2017 by Davis Miller 1 Comment

Now that Thanksgiving has been consumed and digested, there is no escaping the cold hard fact that Christmas is almost here. The decorations and artificial trees littering the aisles at retail stores before Halloween had you suspicious.  Now the non-stop 24/7 Christmas tunes don’t let you forget.

5 Ways to Avoid Getting Ripped Off on eBay

November 10, 2017 by Davis Miller Leave a Comment

There it is. A 5″ x 5″ x 50″ card board box. The 72 hours you’ve been waiting for it to be in your hands has felt like 72 days. You slice through the tape, throw the bubble wrap on the ground and do a little happy dance to the bursts of the pops. Inside was the driver you just ordered from eBay. You can’t wait to get to the range and start driving to the moon.

At the range, all of that excitement is deflated in a single moment. It’s not when you drive the ball 100 yards. That’s actually a little better than normal. It has nothing to do with the slice that nearly took someone’s head off. You’ve been slicing balls like bananas since the beginning. It’s when your buddy lets you know your club is a counterfake! You’ve been duped. You feel dumber than the time you threw your Scotty Cameron in the lake after missing a 2.5 foot putt.

What do you do to avoid the fakes and the scammers? Stop shopping online altogether? Continuing shopping and hope for the best?

I’m going to walk you through 5 ways you can protect yourself and your wallet from the dastardly evil-doers that are polluting eBay.

Shipping Golf Clubs Safely

May 25, 2011 by hfenn Leave a Comment

Here at Golf Club Brokers, we send hundreds of clubs each week, so we have plenty of experience with shipping golf clubs safely. Unfortunately, we’ve received some clubs that were not properly protected for shipping. All too often some of the clubs arrive to our facility damaged, and these scratches & dents are not a result of UPS!  The majority of the time, the clubs arrive damaged because they are packed poorly by the sender.  We stress the importance of “adequately packaging items” to all of our customers, but what does this really mean?  How does one adequately package items?

Are you interested in buying a set of golf clubs? There are many things to consider when it comes time to start looking for a new set of clubs.  This article will primarily focus on why it is a good idea to buy used golf clubs instead a brand new set.  As you probably know, a set of latest and greatest golf clubs can cost thousands of dollars.  If you have the money and the desire, please feel free to go all out.  However, here are a few things to consider for those of us on a budget.

Preparing For Your Round

May 18, 2011 by hfenn Leave a Comment

This golf tip edition is brought to you by “Da Game Breaker,” whose goal is to help the average weekend player play better, have more fun, and enjoy taking that charity contribution away from your buddies on the 19th hole.

Preparing For The Round

The Problem:

We all know time is precious.  If your schedule (and wife) allows you to golf more than one round a week, then you should consider yourself lucky.  Most of us hackers pull into the parking lot, check in, and go straight to the first tee.  If we don’t get stuck in traffic and arrive with a few minutes to spare, we stop by the putting green for 3 or 4 quick putts and we’re good to go!  Then we use the first 3 holes to loosen up, get the pace of the greens right, and get our mind on the game.  By the fourth hole, we’re finally ready to play.  Forgive me if I’m wrong, but didn’t we start keeping score after the first hole?  Let’s face it, the game starts before you get to the first tee.
